Mare Crisium is a pictorial representation of the lunar basin of the same name, located in the northeastern square of the Earth-facing side of the Moon.
The artist faithfully depicts the highland kipuka surrounded by marine basalt, as well as the large crater Cleomenedes, north of Crisium, and other craters, south of Crisium and around its perimeter. The colors are titanium white, iridescent white, and black, diluted with shades of dark gray.

In satellite images, Mare Crisium is easily recognizable because it is not connected to other seas or lava flows. The rings of the basin-like structure left by the impact that created the mare are clearly visible. The inner ring, formed by the wrinkled ridges surrounding the mare, encompasses an area of 740 km2. The geological units associated with the Crisium impact basin include irregular massifs, platform massifs, flat plains, and hilly, furrowed terrain, all of Nectarines age. The lunar plateaus consist of older, light-colored aluminosilicate rocks and dark, iron and magnesium rich volcanic rocks. All these characteristic elements are reinterpreted by the artist with the choice of colors and pictorial gestures that characterize his visual research.
