Davide Ragazzi, Moon Paper 2, 2019
Davide Ragazzi artist, since 1993, explored the possibilities of integration between ancient and modern medium: manuscripts, calligraphy, collage, prints, photocopies and paintings.
In the series of works entitled Moon Paper 1-4, dedicated to the Moon, the artist chose to use blank sheets of old volumes; their function was to protect the book and for this reason they were called "flyleafs." Detached from time and devoid of any historical or artistic constraint, the sheets have lost their original function. The artist collects them, archives them, and gives them new life by inserting them into the context of his research. "Movements and rotations stand out on memory papers," the artist tells us, explaining also that he used metallic-based acrylic paints (steel, silver, iron, and bronze paste, with a grainy, textured effect) to create a "lunar dance."
