The artist Davide Ragazzi uses satellite photographs as a visual cue and reinterprets them with his pictorial language. The scientific data of a photographic image is returned by the artist in alternating pictorial layers; a material layer completes a rich work of very thin film, which aims to restore three-dimensionality and depth. The work belongs to the Ocean, Earth and Space series. The title of the series accompanies the visitor to the observation of the elements represented by the artist: the waters of the oceans, the emerged lands, the atmosphere space and the cosmic space. In the second work of the series, the Micaceous black background is present in a larger portion than in the first work. The black layer, flat and full of bright points, is background and horizon. The artist, with delicacy, insists on showing us the possibility of dealing with darkness from a positive perspective. The vision of luminous points in black color refers to a message that the artist want to convey: the positive vision of darkness. The lights that Micaceous black contains are a symbol of the human ability to glimpse light and hope even in periods of darkness.
